2017 Ruppert Graduates of the ABC Leadership Development Program
We stand by our recruiting motto that when we hire, we want to hire for life. This means that we want to provide people with not just a job, but the opportunity to develop a career with Ruppert through ongoing training, professional development, and advancement opportunities. To that end, we encourage our team members to work to continuously improve through learning and skills building. This year, we had two Ruppert team members graduate from ABC’s LDP: Adam Bennett and Kelly McGuire.
The Importance of Taking Time to Unwind
VAL Appreciation
While relaxing and unwinding with our coworkers is important, it’s also essential that each of us as individuals take the time we need to properly unwind and mentally prepare for what lies ahead.
Fleet Speak: Safety & Fleet Working in Tandem
Heavy-duty locking devices
Our fleet and safety teams are a partnership. We need to have our eyes on both things in order to keep our vehicles and equipment in the best working order and our people safe
Coach’s Corner: Turf Renovation
Turf renovation is a process that does not typically take place until late summer or early fall. However, mid-summer is the time to start taking proactive steps to get the best return on your investment and increase the chances of having good germination and development of the newly seeded grasses come fall.

Each summer, we remind our field personnel to be aware of an increased presence of pests like mosquitos, bees and ticks. But this year we are facing yet another threat with tick exposure known as the Powassan virus (POW).

As we continue to grow, both in number of employees and our use of electronic systems, our data storage needs also grow. Therefore, we will be revising our email retention plan in the near future as part of a larger document policy review, with the goal of finding a more efficient way to choose which data is archived and for how long.

Pride in our Progress
Kim Gasper presenting at MDD 2017
Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time and energy focused on how to tweak what we do to improve our service and systems, but this year’s Management Development Days (MDD) theme, “Pride in our Progress,” reminded us that we have many accomplishments to be proud of and that we continue to make great strides as a team. At this year’s annual two-day training event, we were able to bring over 500 employees from all 20 branches together to celebrate accomplishments, learn from one another and grow together as a company.
IT Update: Have you Submitted a KACE Ticket for That?
Submitting a KACE Ticket
Ruppert is growing faster than ever before and the scale/ nature of IT support is following closely along. In 2015, the IT team realized the traditional way of help desk support—via phone calls, emails, sticky notes, and desk “drive-byes”—was no longer an efficient or organized way to manage IT support for the company. We decided to leverage the additional capabilities of a system we’d had in place since 2011 (Dell KACE K1000 Systems Management Appliance) to allow us to better organize and track our efforts around end-user support.
