Over the 4th of July weekend, members of our Virginia landscape construction team volunteered their time to install a new brick walkway for residents of the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run in Haymarket, VA, an establishment run by Serving Our Willing Warriors (SOWW).

For this month’s financial meeting, our managers visited the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. This site was selected in light of our continued focus on horticultural training in an effort to provide our customers with high-quality services using horticulturally sound practices and plant material.

Each summer, we remind our field personnel to be aware of an increased presence of pests like mosquitos, bees and ticks. Many of us are familiar with taking precautions against ticks due to the risk of exposure to Lyme disease. But this year we are facing yet another threat with tick exposure known as the Powassan virus (POW).

Pride in our Progress

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time and energy focused on how to tweak what we do to improve our service and systems, but this year’s Management Development Days (MDD) theme, “Pride in our Progress,” reminded us that we have many accomplishments to be proud of and that we continue to make great strides as a team. At this year’s annual two-day training event, we were able to bring over 500 employees from all 20 branches together to celebrate accomplishments, learn from one another and grow together as a company.
