Branch: Fredericksburg, VA Landscape Management Branch
Ruppert Tenure: 2 years
Q&A
Briefly describe what you do all day (at work). Get out and about and get to know people in our community! It’s been fun building the branch from the ground up and having an opportunity to wear all the hats at least once.
What’s the best thing about your job? All the people I meet, and not being confined for sure. An office job would not be for me!
What’s your favorite thing about the company? The Ruppert FAMILY! Not even just in our own branch. I love that other Ruppert team members from different branches and even in different states feel like family as well.
What’s your favorite memory at Ruppert? Probably my first Management Development Days (MDD). It was a great way to really remind ourselves to live the culture, and so awesome to meet people I had interacted with via phone or email for so long!
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this? Anything with homes or design. I come from a retail background so matching colors and patterns, along with physically moving walls around to make things work, gets me excited. In my spare time I look at homes for sale online and think about what I would do to the architecture and designing different spaces.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now? I don’t want to give too much away and jinx myself, but there’s a beautiful portfolio I’ve had my eye on for a few years that I’m finally able to sink my teeth into!
Who has been your greatest mentor and why? Probably an old manager, Tabitha. We worked so well together, she was able to challenge and grow me in ways that no one else could have. She moved out of state a few years back, but I still reach out to her for guidance often. One of those things that will last forever!
What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession? Always be humble and kind! Also patience, persistence, determination!
What inspires you? Always wanting to be better and do better!
How do you define success? I don’t think success is being better than anyone else, but being better than you were yesterday.
What is your proudest/favorite moment of your Ruppert career so far? I would say just seeing my branch grow as a whole has been a pretty awesome thing to experience and be a part of. Starting with just my branch manager and I, to where we are now… it’s awesome to look back and reflect on that.
What’s your favorite movie and why? This is a tough one! Probably Steel Magnolias if I had to choose just one. I love the ladies and the characters remind me so much of my crazy family! I remember watching it over and over with my mom when I was young.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you. My taste in music is everywhere, but primarily you’ll find me listening to something from the 60s – 80s. Fleetwood Mac is my all-time favorite ever!
What are you passionate about? My family, and my sweet fur baby boy, Oscar.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Give lots of money to my grandparents, and then buy a big farm so I could have like 100 dogs!
How do you balance your career and family? You just have to practice good old-fashioned time management. I really learned to protect the integrity of my family time when working crazy night and weekend hours in retail.
How do you like to spend your free time? I spend a lot of time with my family and my friends… we are always trying to find something new to get into and different places to check out.
Do you have any hobbies? I love getting my friends together to check out different festivals, food places, and a good hike every chance we get.
What is your favorite family tradition? Probably pumpkin carving at Halloween. We’re all really competitive so we plan it out weeks in advance. Power tools may or may not be involved.
What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity? I can’t lie, I’m a sucker for a good Netflix binge or a good book. I love this conversation with my customers. They have awesome recommendations, and then we can chat about them together the next time we link up! I love it.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Play guitar! Or maybe piano.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why? Anywhere I’ve ever been with mountains is my favorite place.
Where’s your favorite family vacation location? Not a location really, but we go camping a lot. I love to see new places!
What three traits define you? Loyal, sincere, and I like to think I’m funny… my branch manager might disagree
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13? Girl, chill!! You don’t have to have everything figured out and hardly anything works out the way you plan. Just enjoy the ride!
If you could be any animal, which would you be and why? DEFINITELY my own dog. That dude has it made.
